Charlotte Rae was born on Monday, October 10th, 2011 at 8:26pm weighing in at 8 pounds, 11.8 ounces and 21 inches long. We woke up at 1:30am with severe contractions and a fever of 102. We continued to monitor it until about 5am when I started getting sick. We called the hospital and headed in. Since I was 4 days overdue, they decided to admit us and prepare for delivery. I pushed for 3 hours and the C-section team was called in. However, by the time they were ready, she was so low that they would have had to push her back up to do a c-section. It was determined that I would have to push a little longer. Dr. Bentley used the vacuum on her and with in another half hour, Baby Charlotte graced us with her presence.
We ended up staying a total of 4 days in the hospital. I had lost so much blood and am anemic so I had to have a blood transfusion. Once that was done I was feeling much better however Charlotte had jaundice. It wasn't bad enough for treatment but her doctor wanted to keep an eye on it. We had to stay an extra night and that morning they tested her again and she was much better. We got to go home Thursday late morning and are enjoying every moment of being a family of 3 (5 if you count our 2 lovable dogs). Both Charlotte and I are healthy and happy.
Matt and I are enjoying every minute of being parents and look forward to watching our beautiful daughter grow. We get to know each other more and more every day. She is a true blessing and miracle.
